Suzuki Music Academy of Michigan is the new face of Suzuki Royal Oak Institute of Music. We are continuing the community music school founded in 1991 by its current Executive Director, Mark Mutter. The Academy has grown to become the premier center for instrumental music education in the Metro-Detroit area, providing instruction on violin, viola, cello, classical guitar, harp, and piano.
Covid-19 Update

We have been carefully monitoring the news and the latest recommendations from both public health experts and the State of Michigan. We have resumed in person private lessons and group classes and continue to offer an online alternative for families and/or students with compromised immune systems.
We welcome a new member to our terrific faculty and now offer instruction on Harp!

Cheryl Losey Feder is our most recent addition to the faculty of Suzuki Music Academy of Michigan. She has earned the distinction as one of America’s leading harpists, receiving national and international awards, and performing in diverse settings around the world. Learn more…

What families say about our program:
Before deciding on the school, we looked at other music schools in the area but we’re shocked at the stark differences, it was obvious from the beginning they did not provide such a unique and individualized approach to music as SRO.
Lindsay Ludtke, parent of an SRO Student
The method and philosophy of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki is alive and active at this school. SRO continues to produce accomplished musicians with noble hearts.
