
Saraí Aboites, D.M.A. is a multifaceted musician and passionate educator whose work bridges performance, pedagogy, and community engagement. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Viola Performance from the Conservatorio de las Rosas (Mexico), studying with Gellya Dubrova, and her Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Michigan State University, studying with Yuri Gandelsman and Eric Nowlin. As part of her doctoral work, she participated in the String Pedagogy Fellows Program and completed a semester-long early childhood music course. She received her Suzuki training certification through courses in Honduras with Andrea Canon, in Colombia with Eduardo Ludueña, and in the United States with Mark Mutter. In 2024, she joined the Teaching Artist Training Institute cohort to further her commitment to learning and teaching.
A versatile performer, Saraí has appeared with orchestras, chamber ensembles, mariachi, and Latin music groups, including Salsa Verde at MSU, and has collaborated in performances across Mexico, the United States, Belgium—at the European Parliament—and Germany’s Konzerthaus Berlin.
Dedicated to teaching, Saraí provides viola instruction from beginner through pre-college levels and violin instruction for beginners through intermediate levels, emphasizing an intentional, scaffolded progression along with practical techniques, creativity, and cultural connection. She has served as a coach and clinician for youth orchestras, chamber groups, and community programs in both the U.S. and Mexico.
In addition to her teaching and performing, Saraí serves as Operations and Personnel Manager for the Battle Creek Symphony and is an active freelance violist with regional orchestras throughout Michigan. Her career reflects a deep commitment to musical excellence, cultural diversity, and fostering the next generation of musicians.
