Join us for a fun week taking a deep dive into musicianship and music production. This intensive includes two hours of instruction per day over five days. The first hour will cover musicianship and the second hour will cover music production. We will be offering the intensive two separate times during the year. Students in Suzuki Book 3 and above.
Musicianship will cover topics including music history, music theory, ear training, and rhythm work.
Music Production will be an overview and understanding of the foundations of music notation software, audio recording, and concert production.
To get the most of the Music Production Intensive, students will need to bring a laptop that meets the following requirements:
For the Audio Recording portion of the class, we will be using free software for Windows and Mac users which can be downloaded here: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/
System Requirements for Windows: Audacity is tested on Windows 10 & Windows 11, and may also work on Windows 8.1, 7 and Vista. Both 64-bit and 32-bit versions are available.
System Requirements for Mac: Audacity is tested on macOS 12 & 13, and may also work on any OS X version released after and including OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Both Intel (x86_64) and Apple Silicon (ARM 64) versions are available, as well as a universal binary.
For Sheet Music Notation will be using Noteflight which is a free browser based program. It can be accessed here: https://www.noteflight.com.
If your laptop meets the requirements for Audacity it will work with Noteflght as long as you have one of the following versions of an internet browser:
Google Chrome v.54
Safari v.10.1
Microsoft Edge v.80
Firefox v.51
