Ben Chapman earned both his Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Wayne State University, studying under Brian Roberts and Scott Walter. As a thoughtful and attentive teacher, Ben found that the Suzuki Method uniquely coincided with his own learning and teaching philosophies and truly believes any child can learn to play a musical instrument.
Ben has completed several core Suzuki units with renowned teacher trainers MaryLou Roberts and David Madsen. Using the principles of the Suzuki Method, he strives to provide students with a solid foundation in technique and musicianship, while giving them the tools needed to become independent and accomplished learners.
Involved in the local classical guitar community, Ben is a founding member of the Detroit Guitar Trio and serves as vice president of the Classical Guitar Society of Michigan. With a heart and passion for the community, Ben is also a guitar instructor in Detroit with the Kithara Project, a non-profit, which provides completely free music education to underprivileged communities across the US and in Mexico.
