Anthony DiMambro has been offering classical guitar lessons since 2005 and was appointed as a co-director of Suzuki Music Academy of Michigan in 2019. He is currently teaching and accepting new students of all ages from as young as 3 years old to adults. Anthony is a registered teacher and active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, completing several of his core units with exceptional teacher trainers MaryLou Roberts, David Madsen, and William Kossler. Anthony is focused on giving students a thoughtful and sequenced foundation to be accomplished learners and successful in life. He employs the Suzuki Method to nurture students’ abilities to persevere, be creative, and collaborate with others.
Anthony is an extremely committed teacher and strives for excellence leading his students to great performances including venues such as the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center (home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra) and for the International Children’s Festival. Sharing his expertise nationally and leading young guitarists to become accomplished musicians is a strong passion for Anthony, who has been a celebrated guest clinician at the Suzuki Academy of Columbia and University of South Carolina Festival, Ann Arbor Suzuki Guitar Institute, and the Wayne State University Guitar Day.
As a lifelong learner, Anthony continues to deepen his knowledge and share his experience by attending and presenting at several Suzuki Association of the Americas and American String Teachers Association Conferences. When traveling, Anthony takes lessons and performs in masterclasses with top performing artists, most recently this includes Stephen Aaron (Oberlin Conservatory), René Izquierdo (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Eliot Fisk (New England Conservatory), and Jason Vieaux (Curtis Institute of Music).
Anthony DiMambro along with Scott Walter (professor of guitar at Wayne State University) and Ben Chapman, formed the Detroit Guitar Trio in 2024. They perform regularly and with the goal of making live classical guitar music more accessible in the Detroit area.
Anthony also teaches with and is the program director of the Kithara Project in Detroit. Kithara Project provides community-based and tuition-free classical guitar education to children and youth in neglected communities in the US and Mexico.
